But for those of you who do, here I go again! =)

There is not that much to say, I wanna give you a small update though. I am still alive, still happy with my hostfamily. Honestly, my job is a little boring because I don't have that much to do. Sure, going to the gym, meeting friends...but after all my life is sort of "relaxed". Almost too relaxed. However, let me try to remember what happend the last 2,5 month. I have been to New York City a couple times, went to the church, was pretty good actually. I enjoyed. I went on a weekend trip with a friend to the niagara falls, didn't go over to the canadian side though. It was a great trip and the falls are really impressive. Day view, night view (with lights). Yeah, I went to Philadelphia again, a day trip...OH, I remember. I went down to my old hometown, where I used to live before I came up here to Connecticut. So I went to Maryland with the bus since a friend of mine was leaving to germany, she was done with her year, and I promised her earlier that we will see each other before she leaves. We talked about it a few weeks before I went down there and I guess she forgot about it and didn't expect me anymore. But since I promised and since I didn't get back to her and talked to a different friend I was kind of a surprise. I saw a lot of my old friends, we had a really good time together. I also went to washington and baltimore and last but not least to a house party.

So, that is pretty much what I can tell you about my last few month. The winter is gone, it is still cold sometimes. But I already smell the spring coming.
This last week I ran for the first time in the last 5 month again and since, I mean, I went to the gym but didn't do any workout for my legs, anyway, I had such a muscle ache afterwards that I could barely move. But I am trying to get back on track to get my body in a good shape...I am sowas von out of shape...but good that it is getting warmer again. Yeah, that's pretty much it, hope I was able to give you a little update. Feel free to contact my anytime!

Cheers!

Good morning everyone. I know, it's been a while again...I am just not that motivated to write new posts, probably because fb is kind of a second blog somewhere...anyway, here I am, letz rock the show.

Let's begin with christmas. Since my hostfamily is a jewish one, we are not celebrating christmas. So, they went on a roadtrip to Indianapolis and I stayed home for the chirstmas weed to take care of the dog. But I decided to have kind of a christmas party at my house on christmas eve. So, we were 13 people, had a nice dinner (vegetarian lasagne), we used the hottub played games, watched tv....was really a nice evening but different since I am in the states and not home. Anyway, that was my first christmas away from home.

When my family returned from the roadtrip my hostmom gave me two tickets for a football game in NYC. I actually don't know who played, but I called a friend and we went to the game. Was really nice to see a real one, but it was cold that day since I didn't have a winter jacket...but no problem for a tough guy like me =P

So, then we had new years eve. There was nothing special acutally. First I wanted to go to New York City, but then I decided to go to a friends house cause I had to get up very early on the 1st. Why? Continue reading and you'll know =)
Anyway, we had a really relaxed evening with watching "dinner for one" (they don't know the show here in the states, I was very surprised) and talking and just hanging out. We didn't have any fireworks, watched it in the tv though. Oh, we had sparklers though. Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Now the reason why I had to get up early on the 1st. Pretty simple: I went to Miami, FL, for one week vacation. If this isn't a good thing to start a year, nothing else is! =P
I actually went to my hostgrandparents house, they are living there and I visited them. They acutally invited me so I stayed at their house close to the ocean. I actually had kind of an ocean view, but there were some buildings blocking my view. I saw the ocean between the building though.
So, on saturday, the day I arrived, we went to the musical "the beauty and the beast". It was the second musical in my life I've ever seen. That was pretty amazing. The second evening, it was sunday that day, we went to see the vienna orchestra. (Wiener Orchester) That was pretty amazing too....
Then, on monday I went to the Miami sea aquarium with a girl and her grandma I met before. So we spent the day there, I saw the dolphin show, I also saw the flipper dolphins and finally touched and kissed one. If you want to see some pictures go and visit my facebook profile. And then, the probably most impressing thing was to see the killerwhale show. You know, free willy...it wasn't actually free willi, but another one. For pictures also visit fb.
We had a pretty amazing day there.
This evening, our building was right next to the highway, our apartment on the 16th floor, there was a shooting on the highway. the guy was crossing the road with a backpack and the thing in his hand looked like a pistol. Then there was the police car coming, the police officer stopped, got out of his car and immediately pointed his gun to this guy and made him not move. 5 minutes later there were like 15 other police cars, some officers pointed their guns to this guy, they closed the highway for both sides. The entire story was about 30 to 40 minutes. Anyway, they finally shot this guy, but they didn't kill him. He was taken by the ambulance later. But I was standing on the balcony and watching the whole thing, heard the shots and not at last recorded it with my camera. You will find a link to watch this also on my facebook profile. That was really crazy, right next to our building in the middle of the night.
The next day, it was tuesday, a friend of mine a I went to the beach near our building. Was pretty nice there. Later in the evening we all went to the movies.
Thursday we went to the safari in west palm beach, it was raining, more pouring, a great time though. The best thing were the rinoceros (Nashorn). Was pretty crazy, cause they liked the wet weather and were running around our car...but that is what a safari is about, right? =)
We crashed the mall in the evening and just hang out.
On wednesday, the day before, we were taken for a tour through miami from my hostgrandmothers sister who also lives down there in miami. We went downtown, saw the habor, all the big and pretty yachts and not at least the probably best thing to see: MIAMI BEACH! =D
The week I was there we had about 70 to 80 degrees °F (20 to 26 °C) but it was sunny mostly.
Friday, our last day together we decided to go back to Miami beach to get a little tan. We flew home on saturday morning. The week in Miami, pretty amzing, and I thank god for that he gave me the opportunity to do sth like this. THANK YOU GOD!
I feel really blessed whith everything he gives me and I am so thankful and I also want to thank all of you, especially all of you in germany who didn't forget me yet.

On sunday, I was already back home in the winter, I invited a friend to have a hottub sit in. Was pretty cool, we were sitting in the hottub with 104°F (40°C) hot water and eating snowballs. =)
Earlier that day I went to NYC to go to the chruch. I think I finally found a church where I feel comfortable. It's the brooklyn tabernacle, a pretty good one, impressive, recommended from a friend. But it takes me like 1,5 hours to get there...so, I probably won't go every week...but every once in a while.

Then on wednesday the 12th of january 2011, we had kind of a snowstorm at night with 16 inches of fresh snow. (It's like 40cm) And I was shoveling snow for probably 5 hours outside in my neighborhood helping other older people. Not at last I shoveld our driveway. It was a lot of work and a really good exercise to do, so I didn't go to the gym.

That's pretty much it. I am doing very well here in the states. If you want to know more, just contact me. Hope you all are doing well...

god bless you, Manu

Hey guys,

It's already been a while again that I posted my last post, but here we go again. So, I don't have that much to tell you, I am still feeling comfortable where I am, my family is unheimlich great, I am on good terms with my boy and it is getting colder - it's kind of winter already =)
So, I was in Boston and Philadelphia the last weekend, visited the Harvard University in Boston, was kind of impressive, and not at last, boston is such a great and beautiful town...it's like a dream, seriously. So, 2 buddy dudes and I, we spent the whole saturday there, and then, on sunday, I went to philadelphia with two other friends...but, I must say, I wasn't impressed from Phily at all. Was kinda boring there, not that much to see, but OK. My hostmom explained me the meaning of "OK": OK is the minimum acceptable. So, when I say "OK", I almost died, but I didn't. =) Philadelphia wasn't that bad, I mean, I had two good friend with me, but...you know... =)

So, that's it for today, I am missing my friends in Maryland, I am coming soon to visit you! Had a great time the last weeks, they are like a real family...
The last weekend was the best weekend ever! I had company of three friends from maryland...my closest friends here, and we had a sowas von great weekend. On Saturday we were at the beach here in Westport, my hometown, and later we went to NYC, spent the day there, Timesquare, and after it was getting dark we went through Manhattan, through Chinatown to get finally to the brooklynbridge...
On sunday we were just in my area, I showed them my town...I already miss them but looking forward to see them in a couple of weeks again! Then I am going all the way down to maryland...
And yesterday evening I was sitting in our whirlpool at home...awesome...!!

So, I am doing very well and I enjoy my time here...
Manu

Fingerworkout...

My first week in my new family is over, and I can say that this is the best family ever. So lovely, I am a real family member, not just a employee...I have my own car, Mercury Mountaineer, 215 horses power, cylinder capacity 5 liters...awesome... ;-)
My room is in the basement, own bathroom, and a cute house.
We do have a dog, Josh, he is german, but he is not listening to me...I am wondering why...^^
My last weekend best ever. Friday evening just hang out with my boy, were watching a movie, on saturday we went to the grandparents beachhouse, I was lying at the beach and tried to get tan...but the wether was good...then I rode with the bike with my boy, and last but not least I drove Jetski...AWESOME...A jetski with 215 hp...we drove about 64 mph, about 100 km/h...and then, not a this speed, but we all fall down into the water...it was so funny... ;-)
And yesterday I was in New York City, Manhatten, Aupair-Meeting, did a scavenger hunt and had a lot of fun. Yesterday on Friday I had to leave my hostfamiles house for their new AuPair. I could have gone to an LCC's (My local childcare coordinator) house, but it would be about 30 miles away from my home. And I thought, that my last day with my friends had already been, so, thats the reason why I decided to stay at a friends house for my last few days...until Wednesday, where my 14-days transition period will end. So I have some more last days with my friends.
Right now I am in New Jersy, visiting a friend there...comin home to my friends house tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Today I was at Atlantic City at the beach with my friend, and it was sowas von beautiful! It was like my first Summer-day this year, because I had to stay all day long at my hostfamilies house inside...=( But thats over now!!! ;-)
Hopefully I will find a new family until Wednesday, so, please pray for me that I will do. I need your prayers! That would be sowas von awesome! Looking forward to it.
And all my friends: please let me know how you are doing...just a message would be fine...

I will try to give a daily update, especially in this time...because everyday is different and everthing can change...

be blessed, Manu

As I promised this is especially for Maren! But also for all you other guys ;-)

Today is Thursday, the last two days I had a lot of work to do. The agency is trying to find me a new family, but I am also trying for myself to find me a new family. I worked hard, very hard the last days, I sent over 140 Mail to different LCC's all over the united states and other people. I got a lot of respond, I had many phone calls, and it seems, that things are running well. I have not many days left to find a new one, there might me two families in New York, one in Texas, I would prefer New York, because then I would have the chance to come back to Maryland and visit my friends some times. I am fine, I am feeling good, is a lot of work to do, but hopefully it will work out. The next few days I will stay at a good friends house, thank you Jon and Josh!, while I am looking for new family. On Saturday I will visit a friend in Philadelphia, so, it seems like high life, and it is!! =)
I want you, brothers and sisters in the lord, to pray for me and the situation. It is not that easy, but I believe in, whatever will happen, this will be the right way! I also believe that things will work out well. There were some things I was not OK with and some reasons why I felt uncomfortalbe in my family. Unfortunately it is not that easy to find a new family for a male AuPair. The agency is working hard to find me a new one, but I am working harder! So, it is a exciting time for me these days.
I have 14 days to find a new one, otherwise I have to return to Germany. Today it day 7! He is still alive and the bike too...so, thank god!!!

Hallo Deutschland, Liebe Freunde, Famlie, Bekannte, Verwandte, Leser, Interessierte... ;-)

Euer Manu

ENGLISCH VERSION

Good morning Germany, Friends, Family and all the other guys... ;-)
It's been over 2 weeks ago that I wrote my last post and I am trying to make it short. My job as an auPair here at my family is not that exciting, but I can handle it ;-) Apart from that I wanna mention 2 hightlights: Last Friday I was at a birthdayparty of a friend and we had a really good time, was really funny. A buddy dude man of mine has an apartment and so we celebrated there...that was fine...!
The next day, on saturday, I was at a KINGS OF LEON - concert, and this was amazing...! Unfortunately I dont have any pics, the batterie of my camera was dead.
Actually my hostfamily is on their vacation and I am still at home and taking care of the dog. And he is allowed to sleep unter my bed, but just because he is an inside dog. ;-) Otherwise I am fine, but there is one thing that is not that good, but I dont wanna tell yu about it via blog. So, if yu would like to know whats going on, just call me...
And friends, I didnt hear anything from many of yu since I am here. I am trying just for you to be up-to-date with my blog...just for YOU! In this case...I would really appreciate if I would hear something from you.

I am available via: Skype, icq, meinvz, schülervz, facebook, email

yours manu

Euer Manu

ENGLISH VERSION

It’s been over a week ago that I wrote my last post. Therefore it is time that my life is telling you something new… ;-)
Over the week I didn’t do really much, most of the time I relaxed on my couch…while taking care of the boys…I was at the gym for 3 times, but the workouts weren’t not that hard…but this week I should bake little donuts…this week will be hard…
On Tuesday I thought my little box wanted kidding me…for weeks I am telling the boys to go out, pool, movies, fishing, mall…but they didn’t want…for weeks…and on Tuesday he came to me and asked: Letz go to the pool NOW! I asked him if he is going to kidding me…but he said no and so we went to the pool about one hour…oh, and there I got a sunburn…but only a little one…
Yes, that’s what I lived to see this week…but now it time for the weekend…Friday evening I was with some friends at starbucks…we just hang out…was nice…nothing special…but now Saturday…I went with a friend to a different mall…and this mall is really really big…for my family…double the Werre Park…jeah…I bought an new pants and then I discovered the esprit-shop…^^ Mission “shopping” successful…! ;-)
In the evening we went to Washington D.C. to a club for a goodbye-party of a friend…her Aupair-year is over now and we wanted to spend one last evening together…and today she is going back to germany…But the club we went to…it was kind of strange…I guess it was a “black” club…there were over 95% of black people…and the club was really different to the clubs in germany…the music…it was not the kind of music I prefer to hear…and the way they are dancing…very very offensive…and close body to body…I was there with “my” 6 girls…on the dancefloor…and everyone was very close together…And there were many guys who wanted to dance with my girls…and it wasn’t really comfortable for them often…so I had to take care of them and to be there if they needed me on the dancefloor…
Yes, yesterday, Sunday, I was at starbucks with a friend first…and the we went to the goodbye party at the friends house…it was really great. I liked it…but every time it is sadly when someone is leaving…it was like…aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :.(
That was my weekend…now a new week…now letz go to work…! ;-) “WORK”…if there isn’t happening something unusual…then cu next weekend… ;-)
Manu

Heute ist Montag, neue Woche, alter Job, gute Laune... ;-)

ENGLISH VERSION

Today is Monday, new week, same job, good mood…
Like the days before I have to report something, but I am happy about that, that my life isn’t that boring!
Lets start with yesterday. I went with a friend to Annapolis, the capitol of Maryland, little nice and beautiful, really beautiful town, about 45 minutes from my home away…there is a really nice port with yachts, I asked myself where I did park my, but I forgot, so I had to ask the harbor manager…and when we found my yacht we….okokok…I’ll stop joking… ;-)
The main street is really comfortable, but it was really warm yesterday…but there has to be time for Starbucks and Subway. It was like real vacation… ;-) By the way, I think I figured out how to add pictures to my posts…so I will try to show u one…
And here are so awesome cars….camaros, corvettes….wow ;-)
But now best story ever…, I don’t know why, I think someone is kidding me… I do have an anxiously sleep, not really, but it’s easy for me to wake up from noises…and I don’t mean nightmares…for every dream I am a nightmare…^^
I wanted to sleep, but I heard a new thunderstorm outside…and I took a embarrassed look to my window…mom was calling me to asked what is going on with the window…I said, it is ok until now…but don’t be happy too early…we want to see our Manu be angry… ;-)
I heard it ripple and the window box in front of the window was filling with water…and a few minutes later the water came in…..I called mom and said: water comes… ;-)
Yes, one more night where the water was coming into my room…but I was in practice so it was not a big deal for me… ;-)
Oke, theres my new story…enjoy it……oh, but this time there wasn’t a frog^^

Hallo? Verstanden? Heute am SAMSTAG um 7 Uhr aufstehen!!! Straight forward. It was amazing….but we didn’t have a camera with us , but it was a situation for disneychannel…^^
On Saturday I was in Washington D.C. with a friend and there I met some friends from germany. But today was a gym-day for me and I had to get up at 7 o’clock in the morning… … … …hello??? Today on Saturday to get up at 7am??? That’s absolutely disgusting to kick yourself in your ass this early…by the way, don’t forget, I have muscle ache there… =) Anyways, 1,5 hours workout, after that lunch, after that D.C…I was at the gym in the morning because the business times from the gym are 7am to 7pm on Saturdays and I didn’t know what time I would be back from Washington…
Best ever: I am drinking WHOLE MILK. It is something like Wholemilk in germany, not good as the milk in germany, but ok. I think the first thing I will do when I am back in germany is to drink 1 liter of german whole milk…the good german cows… ;-) I am asking me what kind of food the cows here in the usa get…and I guess the whole milk here has 12% of fat, much more than in germany…but it’s good for my training…jippiyeah!
Hey germans (sausages)… ;-)
Everyone who is reading my blog, please write me sth…I would like to know what happens in your life…how are u all?
Once more, I am available at facebook, schülervz, meinvz, icq, email, skype (If u like we can have a skype call…but I don’t have a webcam, but I heard it is better don’t to see my face…)
Those of you who would like to send me a real mail, post mail, I do have an address…just ask for it.

bye

Euer Manu

ENGLISH VERSION

And once more I have to report sth…But this time it won’t be so long…
OK, until know my life haven’t really changed…more or less I am relaxing the whole day long…but I have my new training schedule from my personal trainer (thanks sean) …and it is really hard, because I have abnormal muscle ache…at my ass too… =) If I am following my training schedule, it will be a painful year, but I guess I will be a little more fit.
Ok, now the story:
Tonight, u can’t believe it, it seems like there is someone who don’t want grant me my beauty sleep… ;-) Anyway…I woke up again this night at 5 am, it was too dark outside that my alarmclock could kidding me…^^
This time it wasn’t a ripple noise that picked me up from my dreamland…by the way, I didn’t ask for that… =(…no, this time it was…I cant explain that…really…it was loud…I thougt wich jerk is turning on the washer or the dryer…it is too early for that, but I recognized that it could not be one of those…because the noise didn’t come from a specific direction, it came from everywhere…but it wasn’t only a noise, also a vibration, yes, the whole room seemed to be moved like from 13.253.655.245 ants… ;-)
Okok, I’ll cut it: It was an earthquake. I couldn’t believe it…I was confused… and I didn’t know what to think. But this earthquake wasn’t really heavy, it was 3,6 on the earthquake chart.
But I had luck, there was a last train wich drove back into dreamland and so I got a little bit more sleep. The next morning I looked it up in the internet, because my boys didn’t realized it because they didn’t wake up…

Ok, that’s the post…^^

ENGLISH VERSION

Hey Guys, it’s time for a new post… ;-)
I didn’t have to do really much the last time as an AuPair. The most time of the day I am sitting in front of the TV and my laptop, lunch, dinner…sometimes there is a little bit of laundry to do, sometimes I am using the vacuum cleaner…but it is really relaxed here…
For all of those who are reading this and thinking: I want this job too…hey, it is not really cool…I would like to go out in the sun with my boy and to do sth. but they don’t want…They are just hanging out at home…but I have to say, it is really hot outside…
Anyway, in the evening I often meeting friends at starbucks or somewhere else, hey, frappucino vanilla bean, best ever! ;-) In Germany you can only find starbucks in big cities…=(
There is not much I can refer, but the following story…by the way, now I have my training schedule from my personal trainer, wich is a really good one, and because of that I will go to the gym regulary. Yesterday I was there for about 2 hours and after that workout I was really tired. It was really hard. I was glad about my bed after that… ;-) I switched off the light at 11:30 pm but I had to switch on the light at 1:15 am once more…and here I will start with my story =)
Why did I wake up? There was a ripple noise in my room I thought. But it wasn’t the faucet, because the bathroom was too far away that a faucet could make a loud noise like that. Info: My room is in the basement. Outside there was a big thunderstorm with a heavy rain.
The evening before my hostmom told me to watch the window because it is not waterproof. Anyway, I woke up and I looked at the window and actually the water was still flowing through my window on the carpet…that was the noise I heard…but it did’nt stop, because the window for itself was full under the water…like an aquarium ;-) because suddenly I saw a frog swimming in front of my window…^^
Anyway, I called my mom and we searched for a big box to catch the water…then I was standing at my window with my box and my water….but the frog has been outside…
Meanwhile that the others, mom, dad, sister, boys…were busy with the basement door…it wasn’t proof too…it all took over an hour…but now my aquarium with the frog is empty…^^
But it was a great experience…
Yes, that should be enough for this post. Those of you who would like to know more about me and my life here….contact me at facebook, schülervz, meinvz, skype, Email…icq…
I hope u are doing well and you’ll send me an update too…ah, and by the way…actually I don’t know what to do after that year…but I have to go to the college here !

By the way: Ich bin weit und breit das einzige männliche AuPair hier in der Gegend!

ENGLISH VERSION

Hello Germany, now I decided to create a blog. Ok, I am trying to give u often an update for u to know what I am doing overseas…^^
I don’t know if this will work, but I’ll try…hey, I am in the United States of America, so a blog shouldn’t be a big deal… ;-)
Now I am already 19 days here in the USA, ca 3 weeks and I settled in well. The first 5 days I was in New York visited the AuPair school at long island, u’ll find pictures at facebook.
There I met people from all over the world and it was really a nice time! After that I went to my new hostfamily and from there on I am living here, that’s my new home here in the states.
The family is really nice, the parents are really relaxed, I do have really much freedom?! Anyway I can do what I want but I have to do my job as an aupair serious!
The kids are easy to handle with but sometimes it can be difficult, but that’s the reason why I am here…^^
I was already at the pool in my neighborhood and I often go the the gym.
At the 4th of July I was in Washington D.C. with some new friends and the trip was really great. A big parade and many people and don’t forget all the American flags ;-)
Listen Germany: You can be proud to be a german! Sure, we cant be world soccer champion anymore this year, but soccer is not the only thing to wave a german flag!
Yes, I saw Obamas home, the capitol, the monument, and that was really impressed.
Sometimes I am at Starbucks with some friends in the evening, improve my englisch and live here. There’s a good opportunity to go to the movies and to go out for dinner or go shopping. I was not shopping yet, but the mall would be a dream for each german guy! ;-)
There is an international friendship group with ca 20 people and we are meeting every Monday just hanging out. It is really cool, because there not only Aupairs…by the way, I am the only mal aupair in this area…=(
Jep, yesterday I was in Baltimore with two friends, close to Columbia, only half an hour to drive…by the way, Baltimore is one of the most criminal towns in the USA. We drove through it and there are real “gangsta hoods” ;-)
Ok, now it is weekend and I am watching the soccergame Germany against Urugay and tomorrow the final like hopefully every other proud german citizen.
Ok, that’s for now, wait for an update from me…
With best greeting over the sea, Manu
